Explore The Waterways

Looking for an adventure? Kayaking is an exciting way to experience Amelia Island. Riptide’s kayak rentals are great for traveling through the waterways that surround this beautiful island. Kayaking in the ocean has become extremely popular and our kayaks are perfect for paddling past the break.

Fun & Safety

Our rental kayaks are sit-on-tops meaning you will not be inside the boat but actually sitting on top of it. This way, in the event you are flipped or get stuck, you are easily able to swim away from the kayak. They are designed with your safety in mind!  Every rental kayak comes with the necessary amount of paddles and life jackets for all riders. Life jackets must be worn or stored on the kayak at all times. When facing the wave break in the ocean, make sure to paddle straight over the waves to go out and to come back in.

Riding solo?

Riptide has single kayaks that allows you to paddle alone. Single kayaks are a great way to experience the salty Atlantic with the moderate waves here in Amelia Island. The design is a great size for children and adults alike. Set aside some time because when you get into the water on this craft you are bound to be off shore awhile.

A Kayak for Two

Share your kayaking experience with a friend, loved one, or child. Try a tandem kayak! This kayak has plenty of room for two. Tandem kayaks are designed with a multi channel hull for greater stability and tracking. Two paddles are always better than one!

We Drop It Off & Pick It Up

Reserving your rental kayak can be done over the phone or online. You will select your drop off location and the day you want to set out in the water. Riptide will coordinate with you to set up a time to drop off and pick up the rental equipment. Our staff makes it easy by delivering right to your perfect beach spot. Give us a call if you are done early, otherwise we pick up all kayak rentals around 5PM.

Looking For a Guide?

One of the best ways to discover Northeast Florida is by kayak. If you aren’t familiar with the area, a guided kayak tour will be perfect for you! Riptide offers kayak tours in various locations in the Amelia Island area. Our most popular tour is of Simpson Creek which is between the Talbot Islands. It is a breathtaking tour filled with nature and history. Our guides will amaze you with stories from the past as well as educate you on the wildlife that surrounds you. Birds, dolphins, manatees, and alligators are animals often seen on our kayak tours. Kayak tours can be booked over the phone or online.

Captain Bill Quick was an excellent guide and ensured everyone was safe and well informed about the history of the area. He was also very spirited and funny! We had a great time!

We rented two boats for a family get together. Jeff our guide on what we termed the “ over 50 adult” boat was very knowledgeable of the area and actually a lot of fun. We all enjoyed him and the boat. The younger adults had a fun guide and too. I believe his name was Tyler ! He was also knowledgeable of the area. We may book again in a month to or so.

Captain Kyle did absolutely the best tour of the area. He was very knowledgeable on the history and made sure we all had a great time. He was patient with our crew and made the experience top notch. I would highly recommend the craig cat tour!

We had a great experience with Riptide Watersports rentals. We rented chairs and umbrellas for 4 days. They were there when we got to the beach. Everyone in our group agreed it was so much easier going to the beach and not having to worry about chairs and umbrellas. I will definitely do this again

Highly recommend using Riptide for your umbrella and chair rentals while vacationing on Amelia Island! Our chairs and umbrellas were set up in front of our unit every morning and we didn’t have to deal with lugging sandy equipment back and forth to the beach each day. The customer service is great, and there is a cancellation policy by phone or email within 24 hours if weather or plans change.

Excellent service. Chairs and umbrella were perfectly placed each morning before 8am. Equipment is showing some age but no issues with it.

We took the Craig Cat Tour. Your camera will be in a box to keep it dry. You won't get many photos but you will get wet and have a great time! Captain Bill was very clear with instructions on how to operate the boat safely. He stopped several times to point out interesting landmarks. Took time to watch the dolphins. Had a blast driving our own vessel. Sunblock before you go. Leave a towel and dry clothes in your car for after! Such a beautiful area to see. We recommend the Craig Cats (two seaters) and Captain Bill.

Had three friends in town and i set two tours with Riptide. Day one was kayaking with guide Kyle at Alimacani. It was a great trip and Kyle has so much knowledge about the flora and fauna of the area. Day two was riding the Craig cats with Captain Bill. What a blast! He also has a wealth of local knowledge. Video of a manatee drinking water after Craig cat tour. Photo of holding a sea urchin on kayaking tour. Both tours are highly recommended.
