Team Riptide

There is one rule at Riptide Watersports…HAVE FUN. Riptide’s focus is, and will always be, on the guests that allow us to enjoy the outdoors with them.

Employees find it weird for our team motto to be “we’ll figure it out” however it encompasses every belief Toby founded Riptide on. The business model is simple…we figure out what the guests want and need and make it happen. We believe in making memories and we will figure out what it takes to make an impression. Whether you are a first time visitor or a local we want you to take more than a sunburn and salty hair when you leave one of our kayak, stand up paddle board, bike or boating tours. We want you to take memories of Amelia Island and sore abs from the laughs along the way.

If you think you can handle our one rule then book a tour. Don’t worry about the details…. “we’ll figure it out” …it is what we do.

The Team

You are only as strong as your weakest link and a company is only as strong as the people it employees. Riptide’s success is greatly contributed to the team and their enthusiasm towards the outdoors. Riptide is not just their job, they have made it their lifestyle.

Amelia Island Team Riptide 1Toby Brown – Owner

The love for outdoors has taken Toby on crazy tour. The Georgia native has a passion for helping others enjoy life. The previous Health and PE teacher turned small business owner began his outdoor recreation career at The Ritz-Carlton, Reynolds Plantation. His entrepreneurship soon took over and lead Toby and his family to Amelia Island. Florida’s coastline was the perfect backdrop for Toby’s vision and that vision would soon be named Riptide. His passion to make everyone around him better can be appreciated not only by the guests but the employees as well. When not answering phones or on the water, Toby enjoys traveling with his wife (Ashleigh) and two daughters (Faith and Baylee).

Kyle Rodeffer – Instructor/Guide

Amelia Island born and raised…Kyle’s simple approach to life and laid back personality is infectious. Kyle joined Riptide because other jobs required “shoes and his shirt tucked in”. His knowledge of Amelia Island and love for kayaking, SUP and boating are invaluable in making him an asset to Riptide. When off the clock Kyle enjoys reading and hanging out with his two cool kids (Brody and Alice).

Amelia Island Team Riptide 3

 Bryan Kinser – Instructor/Guide

Bryan grew up in the North Florida waters but later experienced the waves and tides from around the world. Pursuing his passion as a PE teacher and coach in the local school system brought Bryan back to Amelia Island and having him on staff for the summers was a no brainer for Riptide. His knowledge of everything water and expertise in the water is a perfect fit for Riptide. When he isn’t teaching his students in the gym or tourists in the water, Bryan enjoys working out and catching waves with is wife (Britney) and daughter (Rylee).
